SONGWRITER/ARTIST LYDIA LAIRD SIGNS WITH PROVIDENT LABEL GROUP AND HER FIRST SINGLE/VIDEO DROPS TODAY, “HALLELUJAH EVEN HERE”
Seven-Song EP Debuts August 7
29 May 2020 – Franklin, TN – Provident Label Group announces the signing of songwriter and artist Lydia Laird to their family of artists. PLG also reveals the release of Laird’s first single today, titled “Hallelujah Even Here,” with a lyric video and followed by the release of her self-titled debut EP on August 7, 2020.
With “Hallelujah Even Here,” as well as with the other songs included on her upcoming EP, listeners will quickly be introduced to Laird’s powerful vocals and to her willingness to be in the dark places, to find hope through her anthems that honestly address pain in life along with the power of the Gospel. She shares, “My prayer is that my music invites others to be honest and vulnerable with God and ultimately helps them come to know the unconditional love and grace of a Savior who cares in a deeper and more personal way.”
It was from a dark place that inspired Laird to write “I’ll Be Okay,” a song proclaiming truth amid uncertainty and speaks to her own experiences with depression and anxiety—mental health issues that are near to her heart. “I’ll Be Okay” also put her on the industry map, ultimately finding a home with Provident Label Group, Essential Music Publishing, and CAA.
Laird grew up in a Christian home in East Texas as the seventh of ten children, and during her childhood, she and her family spent two years as missionaries in Romania. She recalls becoming a Christian when she was just four years old and writing her first song at nine. Ever since then, music became an outlet for her.
The truth of who God is and what that means for our own identity and security in Christ is one revelation Laird cites as she began her journey deeper toward the center of the true Gospel. “I’m just on the journey with them,” Laird says when asked how she hopes listeners will view her not only as an artist but a person of faith. “I’m still being sanctified. I’m still learning the Gospel every day. I want people to look at me as someone who can relate and cares, and is saying, ‘Hey, we’re in this together.’”
